Terms of service

These terms apply to every purchase from plakton.co.za and to your use of the site. Please read them before you order. Nothing in them limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (CPA) or the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 (ECTA).

Plakton South Africa is the official South African distributor of Plakton footwear.
Using this site
You must be 18 or older to place an order, or have a parent or guardian's consent. Please give us accurate information and keep your account password private. We may suspend an account that is used fraudulently or in breach of these terms.
Products and prices
- All prices are in South African rand. Delivery is charged separately at checkout.
- We take care to show products accurately, but colours can look different on different screens, and natural materials such as leather, suede and cork vary slightly from pair to pair.
- If a product is shown at the wrong price because of an obvious error, we will contact you before dispatch. You can then pay the correct price or cancel for a full refund.
Your order
When you place an order, we email you to confirm we have received it. The contract between us is formed when we dispatch your order or confirm it is ready to collect. We may decline an order, for example if an item is out of stock or we suspect fraud. If we do, we refund anything you have paid in full.
Payment
Payments are processed by PayFast, Payflex and Happy Pay. If you pay with a buy now, pay later option, that provider's own terms also apply to your payment plan. We never see or store your full card details. Our payment system is secure and meets accepted technological standards, as section 43(5) of ECTA requires.
Delivery and collection
We deliver within South Africa only. Delivery costs, times and collection are set out in our Shipping policy. Responsibility for your order passes to you once it has been delivered to the address you gave us, or collected.
Cancelling your order (cooling off)
Under section 44 of ECTA, you may cancel your order without giving a reason and without penalty within 7 days of receiving the goods. The only charge is the direct cost of returning them. We will refund what you paid within 30 days of your cancellation. To cancel, email info@plakton.co.za with your order number.
Returns and exchanges
Our Returns and refunds policy explains exchanges within 30 days and refunds within 14 days of purchase. It adds to, and does not replace, your rights under ECTA and the CPA.
Faulty goods
Under sections 55 and 56 of the CPA, goods must be of good quality and free of defects. If an item develops a defect within six months of delivery, you may return it at our cost and choose a repair, a replacement or a refund. This does not cover normal wear and tear, damage from misuse or accidents, or damage from not following the care instructions.
Discount codes and promotions
Unless a promotion says otherwise, discount codes are for one use per customer, cannot be combined with other offers, and have no cash value. The newsletter code for R250 off applies to a first order only. We may end a promotion at any time, but will honour codes already issued for their stated period.
Intellectual property
The Plakton name and logo are trade marks of their owner and are used under licence. The content of this site, including images, text and design, may not be copied or used without our written permission.
Our responsibility to you
We are responsible for loss you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breach of these terms or our negligence. To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable, or for business losses. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited, including under the CPA.

How we use your personal information is explained in our Privacy policy and Cookie policy.
Disputes
If something goes wrong, please contact us first and we will do our best to put it right. If we cannot resolve it, you may refer the matter to the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud, the National Consumer Commission, or your provincial consumer protection authority. These terms are governed by the laws of South Africa.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The terms that apply to your order are the ones on the site when you placed it.
